How is SciFish Administered?

Scifish will be administered through the Atlantic Coastal Cooperative Statistics Program (ACCSP.org)
ACCSP is the regional Fisheries Information Network responsible for data management for marine fisheries along the Atlantic Coast.
Housing SciFish within the ACCSP will leverage their data experience while also ensuring accessibility of the platform to partners.
Once the customizable application and project builder are complete, partners will be able to develop their own projects within SciFish

There are two primary user groups for the SciFish App:

Project Managers would build the project from within the Project Builder Application and support a citizen project application.
Fishermen would log data for specific projects within the application.

SciFish is a partnership between the:

SciFish launched in August of 2021 with two projects focused on collecting data on released fish.

SAFMC Release:

Works with commercial, for-hire and recreational fishermen in the US South Atlantic to collect data on released fish.
Focuses on collecting data on the length of released fish and information to help better understand how many released fish survive.

NCDMR Catch U Later:

The purpose of Catch U Later is to better characterize North Carolina's recreational flounder fishery.

Data collected using the Cath U Later app will provide discard length data for stock assessment and Fisheries Management Plans.
Evaluate self-reported discard data and help educate the angling public on flounder identification.
